Iran to Launch Major Oil Projects in West Karoun, South Pars

TEHRAN (Shana) -- Two projects of the National Iranian Oil Company, including the skid-mounted processing unit of West Karoun oil fields cluster and storage facilities and measuring stations of South Pars gas condensate, will be inaugurated tomorrow (Thursday, November 26) by the Iranian President via video conference.

The West Karoun skid-mounted processing unit with a daily processing capacity of 50,000 barrels of oil and with 2 refining trains each with a capacity of 25,000 barrels is designed and can be developed for daily processing of 80,000 barrels of oil.

This processing unit, with an investment of $47 million, has been constructed on the southern side of South Azadegan oilfield and its required oil is fed from 35 wells located in this joint field.

According to the National Iranian Oil Company, the project to build storage facilities and metering stations for South Pars gas condensate in Assaluyeh has been built with a nominal capacity of 640,000 cubic meters (equivalent to 4 million barrels) to store gas condensate in the refineries of Pars 1 Region and feed the Persian Gulf Star refinery.

In this project, eight tanks with floating roofs with a capacity of 80,000 cubic meters each and 2 fire tanks and fuel tanks, piping network and electrical and instrumentation systems, metering systems and condensate transfer pumps as well as industrial and administrative buildings have been constructed. The facility, which is currently operational, was built by local contractors with an investment of 29.2 million euros and Rls. 2,200 billion.
