In an interview with Shana, Majid Chegeni talked about the measures taken by the Ministry of Petroleum to prevent the loss of LPG and increase its production and exports: "Liquefied petroleum gas is a valuable product in the natural gas production chain that in addition to being used as fuel is used in many industries, including the petrochemical industry.”
He added: "Despite the very high intrinsic value of this product, unfortunately in recent years, part of LPG in gas refineries was injected and burned into the national gas network along with natural gas; after the establishment of the 13th administration, the Ministry of Petroleum put top on its agenda preventing waste of valuable compounds including liquefied petroleum gas.”
The deputy minister of petroleum for gas affairs emphasized: “With basic and infrastructural measures such as launching Siraf Pars Export Port, to complete the remaining units in South Pars refineries and launching gas vapor collection units in South Pars refineries and active marketing for liquefied petroleum gas export, loss of LPG has now been significantly reduced, so that despite a 15% increase in production in the last seven months of [the calendar year of] 1400 (which ended on March 20) compared to the same period in 1399, the amount of liquefied petroleum gas burned during this period fell by 10%.”
According to Chegeni, as a result of these measures, the amount of liquefied petroleum gas exported in the last seven months of 1400 reached 2,608 thousand tons, which compared to the same period in 1399, has increased by about 15 percent.
