Iran produce 46 million tons of petrochemicals

Iran’s petrochemical production reached 46.33 million tons during last year (20 March 2015- 2016), the country’s National Petrochemical Company (NPC) announced.


According to a report published by the NPC, Iran’s petrochemical production in the last month of the Persian year (20 Feb- 20 Mar 2016) reached 3.8 million tons, and the county’s total petrochemical production over the past year passed 46.33 million tons.

Petrochemical complexes sold 13 million tons of their products in the domestic market valued at over I.R Rial 231,000 billion (USD 6.7 billion).

NPC also reported that over 18.65 million tons of petrochemicals were exported which brought an amount of USD 9.4 billion to the country.

Deputy Petroleum Minister for Petrochemical Affairs Marzieh Shahedaie said on Saturday (23 April 2016) that Iran's petrochemical production capacity will reach 160 million tons in the next 10 years.

Shahedaie underlined contribution of all sectors active in the petrochemical industry to the Economy of Resistance projects and said efforts should be made to check selling raw material while raising production of products with high value-added.

Shahedaie said current petrochemical production capacity stands at 60 million tons, while it was 46 million tons last year.

Shahedaie said about six million tons are expected to be added to the national production capacity this year.
