The CEO of National Petrochemical Company (NPC) underlined the significance of producing strategic petrochemical products in order to reduce imports dramatically.
According to NPC, Behzad Mohammadi, during a meeting with
executives from the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (PGPIC), said
NPC played the role of a monitor or supervisor in the petrochemical sector
after the industry was privatized in Iran.
He said the development of the sector required
macro-planning with a view on global petrochemical developments.
Mohammadi said Iran enjoyed only 0.6 percent of the world’s
petrochemical market share which indicated a lot needed to be done domestically
in the field. This is while, he added, China enjoys a 40% share in the
petrochemical market of the world.
